Dermal Filler Treatments
As we age our bodies are under constant attack from the weather, the sun, pollution, fatigue, hormone changes and the natural aging process. As a result of aging the skin’s natural moisture retaining hyaluronic acid also declines. This inevitable moisture loss causes the lines, folds and creases around the mouth, nose, jaw, cheeks and lips, giving us an older and more tired image.
Dermal Filler treatments offer patients a wide range of benefits, including a more youthful appearance. This treatment can be used to improve the appearance of moderate lines and wrinkles and is especially effective around the nose, mouth and cheeks.
Dermal fillers (hyaluronic acid) mimics the volume lost from the skin to achieve natural results. The filler is used to smooth out and fill lines. By replacing the volume in these areas, skin will appear smoother and feel softer, giving an overall more youthful look.
Juvéderm® ULTRA is our filler of choice due to the additional benefits of local anaesthesia, but if you have other preferences we are more than happy to accommodate this and are trained in various dermal fillers.
Troublesome areas include
- Nose to Mouth Groove
- Ageing marionette lines that extend downwards from the corners of the mouth
- Sunken cheeks
- Lipstick Lines
- Thinning lips
- Forehead Lines
- Frown Furrows
Lip enhancements with fillers are ideal for anyone wanting to create a slightly fuller, more natural look to their lips. We believe it is important that a conservative approach to lip enhancement is what most of our clients want.
Ageing naturally causes your lips to become thinner and less defined. Where you’re likely to notice it most is around Cupid`s Bow area.
When lipstick is applied it can bleed down the vertical wrinkles and actually highlight the problem.
The lips are cleaned with chlorhexidine and a fast acting topical anaesthetic is applied to numb the lips prior to injecting
Juvéderm® ULTRA 3 or smile is our filler of choice for lips due to the additional benefits of local anaesthesia, but if you have other preferences we are more than happy to accommodate this and are trained in various dermal fillers.
Lip fillers are very carefully injected into the area required to give you more natural fuller lips.
You will be totally involved in the process and asked about preference of size and shape etc.
The lip filler used is specifically designed to restore natural fullness and create beautifully shaped lips.
Following the procedure, you will be provided with written aftercare advice.
If you have never had lip fillers before it can be a daunting decision and its natural to worry about things such as what if the treatment went wrong, or you simply did not like the final result. Rest assured if you were not 100 % happy the product can be removed by a dissolvent (Hyalase).

Considering lip fillers? Here are 10 thing you should know
If Kylie Jenner’s lips are making you wonder how good your pout would be a little plumper there’s a few things you should know. Whether you want big luscious lips or something a little more subtle and natural looking, here’s our ten-point guide to getting a great result:
1.It’s important to understand one size doesn’t suit all, what works for Kylie might seem completely out of place on your face We will advise how you can achieve your dream lips based on what’s best suited for your face.
2. Plan ahead Most people experience some swelling and possibly bruising after lip augmentation – this is completely normal and can take between 24-48 hours to settle down. So if you’ve got a big event or special occasion coming up, it’s probably best to make your appointment 2 or 3 weeks beforehand.
3. To reduce the chances of bruising, for around 7 days before your procedure you should avoid blood thinners like painkillers, fish oil and Vitamin E, which promote bruising and bleeding.
Having said that, you might not bruise at all. But if you do, it should fade after four to seven days. The good news is using Arnica ointment (or tablets) can also help speed up or avoid the bruising process.
4. Any trauma to your lips can trigger a cold sore, so if you’re prone to these, make sure you take preventative creams two days before the procedure.
5.What happens when you stop having lip augmentation treatments or the product wears off? Your lips will return to their natural, pre-treatment state. If you decide against further injections, it will be just as it was before augmentation.
6.Don’t like the effect? Reverse it. Dermal fillers have come a long way – and most treatments are reversible. In fact, almost all of the injectable products we use at the body detox clinic are non-permanent.
7.Should I? Shouldn’t I? If you’re not sure, you don’t have to go for a full lip enhancement. We offer a ½ syringe, it’s less obvious but still, a very effective way to allow you to test the water.
8 If you have thin lips and you want to look like kylie Jenner you will be unlikely to get your desired effect in just one treatment – it’s best to increase the size of your lips gradually over 2-3 treatments to create a longer lasting, more natural effect with fewer complications.
9 Remember, your body will naturally break down and absorb the filler over time; so all treatments are ultimately reversible. But if you want a quick reversal, we can inject you with an ‘antidote’ to dissolve the filler.
10 Hate pain? We apply a topical anaesthetic to numb your skin and the lip fillers are blended with a local anaesthetic to cut down on injection pain. By using a very thin needle, even sensitive areas like the lips can be treated with minimum discomfort.
After a treatment, the local anaesthetic will probably make your lips feel numb for about 4 to 6 hours.
